What We Offer

Wedderlie House is an exclusive use venue, meaning we only have one wedding or event on at a time. The exclusive use appeals to many groups looking for a location they can completely take over without the worry of other individuals or events interrupting their wedding or gathering.

No two weddings will ever be the same at Wedderlie. We do not have fixed package options nor do we insist you use particular suppliers although we will recommend services we know and trust. We will work with each couple to create their own unique event.

When you book Wedderlie, the standard rental price includes:

  • Accommodation (approx. 44 guests) with towels and linens for two nights,
  • A dining marquee set beside the stables to seat up to 140 guests,
  • Exclusive use of the grounds and all facilities on the 50 acre estate,
  • Our domestic kitchens;
  • Converted stables which are perfect for a ceremony, dining and dance,

Please read over WHAT WE INCLUDE. There is no price difference for a particular “season” and prices are inclusive of VAT.

The standard rental is for three days and two nights (additional days can be added), allowing time for guests to arrive and settle in at their leisure, help set up elements of the event and allow themselves time to enjoy the occasion. Arrival and departure times are negotiable but usually run from 10.30am on day one to 2.30pm on day three. Rental durations are flexible, so please get in touch to discuss your ideas and see how we can work together to lower the overall cost of your event.

Any larger event will require additional negotiation and potential costs incurred if a larger marquee and catering are required. We have plenty of space to hold any size event and will work with every request to find a solution that works. We do encourage all couples to come and tour before making any decision.

THE MANSION HOUSE

Wedderlie House sleeps approximately 22 guests comfortably in 11 bedrooms with the option of adding extra cot beds. There is a beautiful dining room with seating for 24 guests on a bespoke elm table, which opens into a spacious sitting room with open fires, the cosy library honesty bar and a bespoke fully equipped domestic kitchen complete with Aga.

THE STABLES

Currently under conversion, the Stables will be open in the of Summer 2020.  This L-shaped stone building with wooden floors and exposed beams will create a ceremony space large enough to accommodate approximately 130 guests.  This flexible space can be quickly turned around to provide dining, dancing and music space, with the refurbished sprung wooden floor perfect for dancing the night away. The permanent stables bar set in the original shire horse stalls, has a cosy seating area and comes well stocked with your favourite wine, beer and spirits. Four unisex WCs are also located in the stables block, access to which is included in your rental price. The stables can be decorated to your own individual taste, and if desired, we encourage couples to lend a hand in dressing their space.

If you would prefer to host your ceremony or reception outwith the stables, there are several beautiful locations around the estate for a marquee.

MARQUEE IN THE ESTATE GROUNDS

Wedding Breakfast marquee for 130 guests is included in the price.

Wedderlie has several perfect marquee spots all within a stone’s throw from the accommodation and stables. From the sweeping from lawn with far reaching views of the Borders’ countryside, to the tree lined arena, or the central courtyard with dry stone walls and festoon lighting, or all weather sports court, we have a variety of marquee spots. We encourage you to visit, take a walk around and start planning your day.

Please note, if you require a larger (to sit more than 130 guests) or additional marquee it is not included in your rental price and will require additional power, catering and toilet provisions to be hired in addition to your agreed estate rental. We are happy to work with you to arrange hire or point you in the right direction.

All catering is provided through either the clients own choice or through our preferred catering experts. All associated catering logistics will be managed by the Wedderlie team, we just need you to pick your ideal meal.

During your stay, guests have the entire sixty acre estate to themselves. You are welcome to add any element that you would like to make your special day more memorable. We will handle the logistics, you just need to make your mind up. Doves? Prosecco Bar? Fairground Rides? Circus acts?

Photographs can be taken in an endless variety of places offering a distinct sense of individuality for each event. Guests are invited to play ball games on the front lawn, croquet in the shadow of the Wishing Tree, tennis or basketball on the outside court or simply enjoy a walk around the grounds. That said, doing nothing and sitting back in front of a log fire with a gin and tonic is also highly recommended.

Other onsite activities can be arranged. Clay pigeon shooting, highland games, archery, blind-fold off road driving to name but a few. We don’t really have any limitations so if you have something really special in mind…please just ask. We love a challenge.

Fireworks and fairground rides are permitted on site and we would be happy to deal with all logistics concerned in bringing these elements to life.
